On this day, our little boy showed a lot of response and ability to imitate us and others.
More eye contact, ending the nursery rhymes in his own baby babble, stacking up blocks, stacking the coloured rings, putting away and giving things is just the few to name.
I prayed two nights ago for signs and it came true. God bless

I have decided to pen and note down my thoughts and hopefully, this will serve as a memoir of my life. I will try to include my life stages and milestones so that I will not forget to recount the experiences due to short term memory.

The fear that may be... Parenthood jitters... the day I felt so helpless
The past 3 weeks had been tough.
It was just two weeks ago that I was pretty much resigned to the fact that my precious boy would have signs of ASD.
Came back to NZ after visiting a GP and also psychologist in Malaysia. But even after being back in a country where health and medical wise, it would be much more a sigh of relief, I still felt an air of constant worry and I had been losing sleep just thinking of what might be. He is already 21 months, I thought maybe we are worrying too much.
Even after 2-3 days of being back, Ezra still showed signs of asd characteristics and it was the most painful thing to watch. As a father, after months of grooming, trying to educate, sitting with him trying to teach him what every parents would dream of, that reciprocal communication which was pretty much absent the entire time. :(
I prayed and prayed just thinking and thinking. If there was one possibility that he just might be a classic later than usual in terms of male toddler development, I would be very glad to hear it.
And true enough, on 7/8 October 2016, he showed small signs that he may be normal after all. He had more eye contact and was responding to his hand being called more. In a quiet environment that is. Just 3 days after the first signs, his progress was even more obvious with traits of him running to his mom for comfort and more observant of his surroundings. It was at the zoo with JoJo, Terrence and their daughter Jazebelle that he finally has his first social interaction with another toddler. I reckon that I wore the widest smile in that zoo that day 8/10. :)
Let's pray and continue to believe and work hard to ensure my boy will develop more in the days to come. We will have a consultant for ABA therapy visit to assess Ezra on Tuesday.

Squid Fishing cut short by friendly mammals
So right after badminton I had taken Jackie for him to see what squid fishing is all about, we had supper first.
High tide was 1130pm, we had gotten there about 1145 pm or so.
There was little or no waves moving at all. The moon was present however was blocked by heavy clouds. I couldn't believe how still the water was.
After about 15 casts or so, I given Jackie a try at jigging and reeling in. All of sudden we heard loud and large splashes in the sea. It was dark and took us a while to see what the noise was about, my first guess whales! All of a sudden, we literally saw hundreds of fishes 2ft or more swimming close to rocks right below us, just 1 meter away. After a couple of splashes and blow offs from their nostrils, we could see their fins, it was dolphins!!! They were rounding up this large school of fish.
We joked that if we had nets, we could just haul them up right below us.
Still curious to find out what fish they were. Too dark for videos or photos.

Here I was... fishing to the right of my favourite spot for almost an hour but to no luck. 2.5hours post high tide.
I then decided to switch jig go back to my favourite spot as the green wasn't quite working for me. Decided to go with the expensive Yo-Zuri 3.0 rainbow jig. Time passed and no bite at all. Decided to cast further to some seaweed bed in the distance and after a few tries, no luck. Then I managed to drag something, as I was reeling it in, it felt like seaweed so I wasn't too excited, I just reeled it in without trying to break the seaweed bunch I thought, and to my astonishment, it was a whopping 465g squid at the end of the line! It was weird since I didn't feel much fight and tug from it.
Just as I was about to call it a night, I managed to land one! Thoroughly happy with the outcome.
Oh and new PB! 465g!

An hour before high tide fishing
Didn't seem to get much with the incoming tide, lost two jigs but eventually caught one when I went back to my original spot I started squid fishing.
It was a 3.0 blue jig with yellow stripe.
Squid was probably 200-250g.

It's true what some people say...
No matter what others think, high tide low tide, clear skies, dark skies, windy days, choppy waves, full moon, overcast... You just have to go out and try you luck.
After two days of not landing any squids. Tonight , I braved the wind and choppy waters...and guess what? My second cast out landed my PB! A whopping 438g! Not big to some but it's my biggest so far. In the picture is a 3.5 jig btw, you can imagine the size of this bad boy!
Lost two cheaper jigs to the rocks after that though. Oh well, a learning curve since the float don't feel good to me.

Squid fishing report
Caught my 6th and 7th squid this evening. More to come hopefully.
Had a couple that managed to get away upon reaching the rocks. One felt really big. Alas, will live to fish it out another day.
Had an exciting moment share a squid came close to the landing but reversed when I had reeled my jig in. I enjoy these moments where I try to cast it towards the direction I am guessing it went. And true enough, I hooked it after the first recast. What thrill it was. Maybe I'm just feeling that beginners luck all happening.

Success... third time round... I'm now an experience fisherman!
Had fished squid for the second time since researching into it… and guess what, the third time I managed to catch four decent sized arrow squid from the rocks!
I had to write down this milestone for myself in fear of forgetting it. And below are the weight after being left overnight in the fridge… minus the sea water when other weigh it I guess. LOL
380g
327g
230g

First try at squid fishing (Maraetai)
After weeks of research, I finally gave it a try at squid fishing from the shore.
Has been a learning experience mainly as I tried how to jig, changing lures, casting etc.
Amazing how two hours clocks by...and no I didn't catch anything. Just got a whole bunch of seaweed and snags. Lost one squid jig altogether. Good times ahead I hope!
